Hell or Purgatory, waiting for someone that never comes and continueing to wait anyway. And that you dont even know why you are waiting. Absudisim is the theme of the play, as to the meaning i have no idea what he was thinking.

Off the top of my head I really havent got a clue, it seems to be a play on the futility and absurdity of life and death. I’m still not quite sure if they are in hell or just on a road somewhere, although the fact that the tree grows leaves over night and the man leads his slave around making him carry a bag of sand leads me to belive that where ever they are it’s not here on earth.

Yep, agree here too, just because the art defies analysis doesnt mean it’s not a work of art. Art is a creation, think of it on the side of the reciever rather than the creator. We typically reference the creator when looking at art instead of focusing on what are you recieving from the peice.

Sure, while I have my own reervations and would call somethings out as disgusting, twisted or dimented. Some one can recieve the creation as art even if it wasnt initially meant to be art. Immediately we begin by assuming everything has to have been made for a specific purpose or meaning, while this desire makes the world comefortable it also makes it less interesting.

It is very difficult to call some art good art and bad art with a swath of your comments. The reason for this is while I may not like it at all and think it’s horrble someone else with a different perspective on the world and life may view it and it could speak right to their heart

THe tradistional cycl songs end up nonsense because they were just pulled out of mid aire, each line was thought of on the fly and was meant to ryme and have a silly meaning. Several of the cycle songs have been made to have politicla views as well so I submit that while most are nonsense some are not.

I am the walrus plays on the theme of society and conforming, the specific theme I picked up on was that calling out I am the Walrus was saying screw soiciety.. go wear your suits and do your organized thing but dont try to fit me into your box. Society just eats everone up like lemmings and oysters.

Wow.. i didnt really pickup the movie as absurdisim, maybe it’s becaus I wasnt engaged too deep to pay attention to that aspect of the theme. Ahh now i get it Guffman is the name of the gentleman that the Broadway theater was going to send ot watch the play that never made it. In the end the film was about the 150 year anniversary of the town rather than this one person that doesnt show.

I think he does a good job with his protrayal of Corky, in the beginning it seems a bit over the top with his sensual mannerisims. But after watching for a while we begine to see corky as the people of Blaine did. We begin to accept him as a person rather than a sensory stimulation. So I believe he did a good job with the part, the movie would have been more degrading if it hadn’t established this acceptance.

I believe the yellow submarine can be classified as eye candy. However I believe this would be selling the movie itself and all of the other works of art wich it’s compiled from short. The movie was an array of art flowing with visually, audibly and mentally. Aech element seemed to add more relevnce and breadth to the movie.
